Starbucks (SBUX) has issued a recall of its Bodum + Starbucks Recycled Coffee Presses, affecting 230,000 units in the U.S. and another 33,200 units in sold in Canada. The coffee presses were recalled because the plunger can break and expose a metal rod, which could lead to a laceration or puncture injury.

The recalled coffee presses are a co-branded product from Bodum and Starbucks that are made from recycled materials. The press has an eight-cup capacity with a cylindrical glass beaker, screen, and plunger - all held in place by a dark gray plastic frame that is equipped with a locking lid and light gray handle and knob.

The affected coffee presses have dimensions of 9 inches high by 4 inches in diameter. The SKU number is 011063549, which is printed on a white label on the bottom of the base of the unit. The words Bodum and Made in Portugal are also written on the bottom of the base.

The recalled coffee presses were sold nationwide at Starbucks stores and online from November 2016 to January 2019. The cost of the unit was about $20.

Starbucks is urging consumers to stop using the coffee presses. They should contact Starbucks about how to return the recalled coffee presses to receive a full refund in the form of a store credit. Returns of the coffee presses will not be accepted in stores.

Consumers with questions about the recall can call the Starbucks Recall Hotline at 1-888-843-0245, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

Starbucks received eight reports of the plunger knob breaking and one report of injury from the coffee presses.

Shares of Starbucks stock were down 0.01 percent as of 10:05 a.m. ET on Thursday.
