KEY POINTS
- "Starfield" is the next major RPG title from Bethesda
- The game was announced at E3 2018
- Rumors have it that Microsoft might showcase the game at the upcoming E3
The highly anticipated space-faring game "Starfield" is reportedly releasing this year as an Xbox exclusive title, according to a new leak.
The latest information about Bethesda's upcoming space exploration game came from industry insider Rand al Thor, who spoke at the recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast. The insider claims that "Starfield" is launching as an Xbox exclusive game. He added that Microsoft aims to launch the game sometime in the Holiday season this year.
Unfortunately, the industry insider did not offer proof to back the claims but said the information came from "very reliable people." Apparently, the insider is very confident on the release window of "Starfield" and even made bets on it. The insider also believes the game is already finished with him claiming the game is in "bug squashing mode right now."
Rand al Thor is not the only one who believes Bethesda would release "Starfield" this year. Industry insider nateDrake made the same sentiment on the ResetEra forums a few months ago. The insider, however, cautioned that the release could be affected by the current global health crisis and there is still a chance that the release date could change.
A few days ago, YouTuber MrMattyPlays shared the "Starfield" copyright filed by Bethesda for the game with a 2021 date. Fans are optimistic about this recent find since copyrights are usually filed on the days closer to the game's launch.
Industry insider Klobrille mentioned that copyright notices like this one are typically filed around the time "when the work is made available to the public without restriction."
Despite rumors of the game's imminent release Bethesda and Microsoft remain silent about "Starfield." The Redmond-based tech and gaming giant will be at this year's E3 and fans speculate that it might showcase the space-faring title at the all-digital gaming convention.
In the absence of official announcements from developers, these are all speculations and just like all other leaks and rumors, fans should temper their expectations and take this information with a pinch of salt.
"Starfield" is currently in development and was announced at E3 2018.
