Steam Arrives on iOS 5 for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 (Free Download Link)

According to the latest reports, Steam, a very popular online game-purchasing and social-gaming platform is now available on iOS.

Steam, both on Windows and Mac, allows the user to purchase games which can be launched from Steam itself. It also includes facilities like chatting with friends online.

Steam also lets the user connect with friends to play multi-player games and is, possibly, best known for some popular games such as “Call of Duty: Black Ops”, “Portal 2”, and “Team Fortress 2”.

Steam Mobile, as it has been named, will run on the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S, the iPod touch 3G, the iPod touch 4G, the iPad and the iPad 2. The user, however, will need to remember to run at least iOS 4, to install Steam on the iOS device. The application is 1.7MB in size and is currently in closed beta.

Finally, it is to be noted that the application will not let you install any games on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Steam is currently available for free.
