Unless the Pittsburgh Steelers make a trade, they won’t come away with one of the most highly touted players in the 2020 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh doesn’t own its first or third-round pick because of deals they made last year.

The Steelers are set to make their first pick at No.49 overall in the second round. Pittsburgh’s next selection is a compensatory pick at No.102 in the draft.

Pittsburgh’s 8-8 record in 2019 slotted them at No.18 in the first round. That pick belongs to the Miami Dolphins because of a Week 3 trade.

Miami traded safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, a 2020 fourth-round pick and a 2021 seventh-round pick to Pittsburgh. The Steelers sent the Dolphins a 2020 first-rounder, a 2020 fifth-rounder and a 2021 sixth-round pick.

Fitzpatrick was the No.11 overall pick in the 2018 draft and became a First-Team All-Pro in 2019. The 23-year-old had 57 tackles, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns in 14 games with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers don’t have their third-round pick because of a draft-day trade last year. Pittsburgh traded the No.20 overall pick, the No.52 pick and their 2020 third-rounder to the Denver Broncos in exchange for the No.10 pick.

Pittsburgh used the No.10 pick to take linebacker Devin Bush. The 21-year-old led the Steelers with 109 tackles as a rookie. Bush also had four fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a sack.

The Steelers ranked fifth in total defense last season.

Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. The Steelers missed the playoffs for a second straight year as Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges combined to start 14 games under center.

Pittsburgh also owns the 124th, 135th, 198th and 232nd pick in this year’s draft. Miami has three top-26 picks.
