Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry now holds the record for most made career 3-pointers in NBA history, including the playoffs, passing Boston Celtics legend Ray Allen.

On Friday, Curry scored 40 points in a 119-90 win over the Chicago Bulls, finishing the game with nine 3-pointers. He started the game only one 3-pointer away from tying Allen’s record, which he proceeded to do in the first two minutes.

Curry is only 78 3-pointers away from passing Allen’s regular-season record, as official records do not include stats from the playoffs. Including Friday, Curry has made 2,896 regular-season 3-pointers, while Allen has made 2,973.

In the 2015-16 season, Curry set the single-season record with 402 made 3-pointers, winning the MVP award unanimously for the first time in NBA history.

Curry is averaging 28.4 points this season on 40% shooting from the 3. As the Warriors play the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow at 7 p.m., it will be interesting to see how Curry's historic season plays out.
