Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who officially became the greatest shooter of all time on Tuesday after breaking the record for the most career three-pointers made, is currently the highest-paid National Basketball Association (NBA) player.
The 33-year-old guard reportedly earned $254 million in his 13 seasons in the NBA. The figure comprised his earnings from the 2009-10 season to the 2021-22 season.
Curry is earning $45.78 million for the 2021-22 season alone, according to ESPN. His salary for this season is about $5 million more than his earnings in the previous season, which amounted to $40.49 million.
Trailing behind Curry on the NBA’s highest-paid list are Brooklyn Nets’ James Harden and Houston Rocket’s John Wall, who are each receiving $44.31 million for the 2021-22 season.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Net Worth reported that Curry, who played college basketball for the Davidson Wildcats, has a $160 million net worth. He joined the Warriors in 2009 and earned $2.71 million in his rookie season.
In his first few seasons in the NBA, Curry did not have any notable endorsement contracts and only earned around $3 million a year through the NBA and some endorsements.
Today, he is considered one of the highest-paid celebrities in the world. He reportedly makes $50 million in base salary every year in the NBA and earns an additional $30 million per year from endorsements, for a total of $80-$90 million.
In July 2017, Curry signed a $201.2 million five-year deal with the Warriors, making him the first player to eclipse more than $40 million per season.
In August 2021, Curry signed a $215 million four-year contract extension. The deal will take him through the 2025-26 NBA season.
Curry made a mark in the sport after winning three NBA championships and being named Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice with the Warriors.
In September 2019, Curry and his wife Ayesha spent $31 million to buy a brand new home that sits on 1.2 acres of land in Atherton, California.
Curry owns another home in Walnut, California, which he bought in 2015 for $3.2 million.
He previously owned a mansion in Alamo, California that he bought in 2016 for $5.775 million and sold in January 2019 for $6.3 million.
