Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant Reflect On Ring Night After Warriors Defeat Thunder

Golden State Warriors stars Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant reflected on ring night after going on to win their season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.

Before the game, all the players who contibuted to the franchise's 2018 championship winning season received their rings in a ceremony at the Oracle Arena with Durant notably receiving his ring last.

Afterward, they would defeat a Russell Westbrook-less Thunder side with relative ease in a 108-100 victory. Curry finished the game with a game-high 32 points while also contributing with eight rebounds and nine assists.

Durant meanwhile, scored 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Klay Thompson posted 14 points.

Speaking after the game, Curry reflected on the occasion and how he used to look up at the rafters of the Oracle Arena and only see the championship banners from the past, but has since contributed with three championships in the last four years.

"It's special," Curry said about ring night after the game. "I remember looking up there and there were only Philadelphia Warriors banners and the 1974/75 team so to come into Oracle every night, the practice facility, and look on the wall, up in the rafters to see three championship banners that we brought back to the Bay, it's amazing."

"We're kind of reminiscing the journey in those little moments. Obviously, we're still trying to go for more. It's really hard to put it all in to perspective but nights like tonight are where you sit back and feel really proud about what you've accomplished."

Durant reflected as well on what was his second ring night, noting how special the occasion was.

"We had a talk this morning about what would go down, just the whole lay of the land for tonight," Durant explained. "Seeing D-West, Matt Barnes, all the past Warrior champions, the rings coming down from the ceilings. There were just so many emotions, I seen Jacob Evans over there, he was just smiling from ear to ear because that experience, coming in as a rookie and experiencing that."

"There was so much I was thinking about but coming into the game, we were excited about capping off last season with the ring ceremony."

Durant getting his ring last was a notable talking point with many speculating it was a sign that with the possibility of him entering free agency next summer due to the one-plus-one deal he signed, the Warriors were already beginning to recruit him now.

However, Durant saw nothing to it.

"I mean, I don't know, what'd you think?" Durant responded when asked if there was any significance to it. "I mean you asked the question like you did...No."

The Warriors will be on the road next as they take on the Utah Jazz on Friday, who will take part in their season opener against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.
