  • Stephen "tWitch" Boss talked to his grandfather, Eddy Boss, on multiple occasions on Saturday
  • Eddy said there were no signs of stress or that Boss was troubled during their last conversation
  • Eddy was still not convinced that the former "Ellen DeGeneres Show" DJ died of suicide

Stephan "tWitch" Boss was his usual self before he died, according to his grandfather.

Boss sent a message to his grandfather, Eddy Boss, 84, before he passed away. They also spoke multiple times before he died of suicide, and Eddy said there were no signs of stress or that he was troubled. However, he believed that Boss' last message to him had a meaning.

"Every word has meaning. His last words to me were a simple text that says 'I love you Dad-Dad.' Our question is why? Where did it come from?" he told Daily Mail.

In the interview, Eddy said they spoke multiple times on Saturday, and he didn't notice anything strange in Boss.

"He was the same happy-go-lucky person that he's always been. We had no indication that anything was out of the ordinary," he continued.

"He was a very humble, generous person. He brought light into everybody's lives. We're completely devastated right now," he added. "All I can say is he was a beautiful person that contributed so much to this world and to everyone he met in a positive way. We miss him dearly, and we're hurting tremendously."

Eddy traveled from Arizona to be with the family and urged others to look for warning signs in their loved ones. However, he was still "not sure" that his grandson died from suicide after LAPD confirmed it was a "self-inflicted gunshot would" that killed him.

A police spokesperson said the case was forwarded to the L.A. County Coroner's Office.

Boss' wife, Allison Holker Boss, announced the death of the former "Ellen DeGeneres Show" DJ and producer in a statement to People earlier this week.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," she said. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."

She spoke about his legacy and asked for privacy as they grieved the loss of her husband. She concluded the message with a personal note for Boss, "Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you."
