Steve Kerr Could Play Vital Role In Draymond Green-Jordan Poole Reconciliation
KEY POINTS
- An American sports journalist believes Steve Kerr will be able to fix the Draymond Green-Jordan Poole issue
- Kerr got into a scuffle with Michael Jordan in 1995 but managed to co-exist with "His Airness"
- Poole is moving on from issue and shows his maturity in the preseason game against the Lakers
The Golden State Warriors are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons thanks to Draymond Green and Jordan Poole.
Following reports of an altercation between the two Golden State Warriors teammates, the matter was made even worse when a video of the incident leaked out.
Not long after that, the four-time NBA champion Green announced he was taking a break, leaving the Warriors indefinitely as he tries to heal.
The Dubs, particularly head coach Steve Kerr, lashed out at the leaked videos and are investigating the issue.
But the fact remains, the Warriors need to get their act together if they want to win back-to-back NBA titles.
Doing so will not be easy with most seeing an eventually split with either Green or Poole.
But in the opinion of veteran sports journalist Roland Lazenby, this may not be the case.
The scribe believes that Kerr knows how to handle the situation.
Lazenby pointed out how an incident in the fall of 1995 where the current Dubs' coach was also punched no less by the great Michael Jordan during team practice at the time.
"When Michael Jordan punched Steve Kerr in the face in practice in the fall of 1995 heading into the season, Jordan immediately rushed and called Phil Jackson and began the apology process. Jordan and Kerr were not close and are still not close today," the senior editor for Lindy's Pro Basketball Annual stated in an interview with PTV Sports.
Regardless, most know that Kerr and Jordan found a way to co-exist and won three titles together.
"Steve has been down this road. He's been punched. If there is a coach prepared to deal with these kinds of things. it doesn't mean he has some kind of magic band-aid or magic potion for this team's chemistry. But if there is a coach that has lived these circumstances as a player, it's Steve Kerr," Lazenby stressed.
With Green out of action, Kerr will need to make adjustments for the Warriors' to maintain its competitive flame.
Poole appears to have moved on from that incident, dropping 25 points in the Warriors' preseason game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, 121-124, last Friday, October 7.
Most know that games will be different once the 2022-23 NBA season starts.
Furthermore, it will be interesting when the temperamental Green will return to action for Golden State.
