Steve Nash Child Support Battle: Lakers Guard In Financial Duel With Ex-Wife
Steve Nash had a rough first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, battling injuries and getting swept in the first round of the 2013 NBA Playoffs.
Now, the point guard is having issues off the court. He is currently in a battle over child support with ex-wife, Alejandra Nash.
In 2010, a judge ruled that the Lakers star would not have to pay child support for his three children. According to TMZ, Nash doesn’t feel he should pay his ex-wife because she would spoil their kids.
The site reports that the Lakers star is already paying her a lot of money. He’s responsible for 90 percent of medical, school and extracurricular activities, as well as 82 percent of the nanny’s salary. Alejandra reportedly made $5 million in the divorce settlement and has an income of over $30,000 per month.
Alejandra, though, is looking for more, and appealing the judge’s decision. She claims that Nash should put some of his salary towards helping raise their three kids. In the summer, he signed a three-year contract worth approximately $27 million.
Nash agreed to a trade to the Lakers because it would keep him close to his children, who live in Arizona. However, he’s tried to stop his ex-wife from making the move to California, where she might be able to get the child support that she’s looking for.
