Steven Yeun’s New Movie ‘Mayhem’ Gets Fall Release Date
“The Walking Dead” alum Steven Yeun will be heading to the big screen this fall to star in the upcoming action-thriller, “Mayhem.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, Yeun will play the role of an attorney named Derek Saunders. The character is wrongfully fired on the same day that an airborne virus infects the corporate tower of a major law firm. Once infected, a person can act out their most erratic impulses. Derek will be trapped in a quarantined building, where he is forced to fight for his job and his life.

“Mayhem” also stars Dallas Roberts, Samar Weaving and Steven Brand. The film is directed by Joe Lynch, and months after its big screen release, “Mayhem” will also be available on Shudder in early 2018. Yeun’s upcoming project is produced by RLJ Entertainment.
Lynch recently released a statement about the film and said, “‘Mayhem’ is a very personal film for us that has affected and engaged festival audiences looking for some insane, cathartic fun in these trying times. With RLJ Entertainment and Shudder working together to bring ‘Mayhem’ to the masses, I am confident that this crazy flick will find its audience in the best way possible.”
Meanwhile, Yeun and Weaving’s casting in “Mayhem” was announced in March. At that time, Lynch also expressed his excitement over the two actors’ casting. While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Lynch acknowledged the fact that it’s not every day that he will get the chance to work with Yeun and Weaving.
“It’s not every day you get to throw action, sci-fi, horror, drama and even satire in the genre blender and hit puree, but Matias Caruso’s script, combined with a gung-ho cast and crew – especially Steven and Samara – will make for a deliciously dangerous and exciting cinematic smoothie… with a hell of a kick,” he said.
According to the same publication, “Mayhem” serves as Yeun’s first major move since leaving the hit AMC series “The Walking Dead.” In the TV show, the actor gave life to the character of Glenn, and the latter was killed by the villainous character Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) in Season 7.
