Stewart, Pattinson Split: ‘Twilight’ Couple Making It Work For Their Pets During Breakup

News that “Twilight” on-screen and off-screen couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart had reportedly parted ways sent fans of the worldwide series into a frenzy this weekend. While fans were slightly subdued by claims that the breakup was only temporary, one party in the split is reportedly not agreeing well with the idea of a separation.

A source close to Stewart told E! News Sunday that the “Runaways” and “On the Road” actress is not acclimating well to the news that her boyfriend of three years wanted a break from their highly publicized romance. Allegedly, the 23-year-old star is “heartbroken” over the split since the couple is reportedly agreed to still shack up together due to their intense commitment to their animals.

“They are going to stay living at Kristen’s house because of the dogs,” the source said. The couple has been photographed on multiple occasions taking care of their animals, including Pattinson’s dog, Bear, which the 27-year-old adopted from a kill shelter while filming “Breaking Dawn: Part 1” before the couple went officially public, according to the Daily Mail.

Despite reports that the two have called it quits, the source told E! News that the famous duo is not writing off the idea of getting serious again in the future. “It’s not fully over or he would have moved out. ... They will be back together in no time,” said the source, who confirmed the root of the couple’s disagreement that led to the breakup was due to “priorities.”

A source told People Sunday that it wasn’t only the couple’s growing work schedule that accounted for the split and said the breakup was evident after Stewart reportedly did not attend Pattinson’s birthday celebration earlier this month.

“They again went from spending every second together to spending more time apart at their separate houses. Kristen has been in a terrible mood, and it was obvious that things were not great with Rob,” the source said.

This isn’t the first time the couple has called it quits. Pattinson and Stewart allegedly split after photographs of Stewart canoodling with “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders in July 2012. Following the affair, Stewart released a statement calling Pattinson “the most important thing in her life,” saying, “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everything this has affected."
