This vitamin is also an antioxidant that combats oxidative stress, a condition where there is an imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants. Free radicals are molecules that cause damage to cells and have been linked to aging’s negative effects like hair loss. Aside from being a powerful antioxidant, vitamin C also helps in producing a protein called collagen, which is a vital part of the hair structure.
Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron, another mineral needed for hair growth. To obtain more vitamin C, supplement your diet with citrus fruits, peppers, strawberries, and guavas.
