Kyle Harris, who was on the Freeform series “Stitchers,” wants to join the network’s new series “The Perfectionists.” Freeform

The idea that when one door closes another one opens has never been truer than right now.

When Freeform’s sci-fi series “Stitchers” was canceled in August after three seasons, its cast was out of a job. One of those stars looking for a new gig was Kyle Harris, who played neuroscientist and NSA agent Cameron Goodkin on the show.

But it looks like the announcement of the network’s new series “The Perfectionists,” a spinoff of the long-running “Pretty Little Liars,” which ended earlier this year, could be the open door that Harris is looking for.

“Perfect,” Harris tweeted in reply to the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ spinoff news. “I need a job. And surely one of them needs a nerdy boyfriend.”

First, the information about the “Pretty Little Liars” spinoff was too much to handle on Monday, but the idea of Harris joining the series will inevitably send Freeform lovers over the edge. His series “Stitchers” had a strong, cult following of viewers who are sure to follow him wherever he goes, especially if it’s to another high-profile Freeform series.

At least one person really likes the idea of it all, and that would be none other than “The Perfectionists” star Janel Parrish.

“I’m here for this,” Parrish tweeted in response to Harris’ suggestion.

She continued by tagging “Pretty Little Liars” and “The Perfectionists” showrunner Marlene King with a question mark after her name as a way to ask the show’s leader what her thoughts are about bringing in Harris for the spinoff.

The way that Freeform describes the new series makes it seem like it would be a perfect fit for Harris.

“Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents,” Freeform describes the series in a press release. “But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.”

Who’s more overachieving than Harris’ last character as Cameron on “Stitchers?” He was only in his mid-twenties yet he was a neuroscientist and NSA agent working with advanced technology on top-secret projects. He had to be quite the perfectionist to accomplish all of that.

With “Stitchers” getting canceled earlier this month, Harris is free to explore new opportunities, and “The Perfectionists” would allow him to stay in the Freeform” family. Plus, one of the characters definitely “needs a nerdy boyfriend.” And it looks like Parrish may be volunteering her character, but who can blame her?

“We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did,” Karey Burke, executive vp programming and development at Freeform, said in a statement about the new series.

Fans can’t wait for the story to continue, as well, but now we’re all just hoping it will somehow include Harris, too.

When “Stitchers” wrapped its third and final season in August, fans were left on a huge cliffhanger. Kirsten (Emma Ishta) pretended to have lost all her memories only to later on be seen talking to a shadowy figure saying, “I will never forgive you for what you’re making me do to Cameron.”

Though we’ll never know what was to come of it all, Harris did speak with TV Line shortly after the finale, but before the cancellation news, about what he thought would happen in Season 4. Little did we know, this was the closest to a fourth season we were going to get.

“It would be cool to see how the program has to protect Kirsten now that she’s essentially a weapon,” Harris told TV Line. “If she fell into the wrong hands, there would be consequences. We could play celebrity for a moment, since the team is like a group of superheroes in a way. But that could easily take a turn – I could see people getting angry that we have access to all these private memories.”

While a Season 4 of “Stitchers” is not happening, we can now hope that Freeform finds a place for Harris on their new “Pretty Little Liars” spinoff series.

If the network wanted to turn it into crossover episode, that would work, too. The Stitchers lab is very helpful in solving murders, after all.
