Stocks higher after data
U.S. stocks rose on Tuesday after a report indicated continued growth in the manufacturing sector last month, while pending home sales increased more than expected in October.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 91.97 points, or 0.89 percent, at 10,436.81. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 9.62 points, or 0.88 percent, at 1,105.25. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> climbed 22.39 points, or 1.04 percent, at 2,166.99.
Financial shares, however, turned negative, briefly taking the broader market off morning highs.
