Stocks rose more than 1 percent at open on Wednesday as a surge in profit by JPMorgan Chase & Co and stronger numbers from Intel Corp encouraged investors.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 95.75 points, or 0.97 percent, at 9,966.81. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 12.32 points, or 1.15 percent, at 1,085.51. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 25.47 points, or 1.19 percent, at 2,165.36.
