‘Stranger Things’ Renewed For Season 3: 7 Things We Want To See
The creators of “Stranger Things,” The Duffer Brothers, have been saying that they planned on making a Season 3 and 4 of the series, but now it’s official. At least, Season 3 is.
Netflix announced the news on Friday that the sci-fi series will be returning for a Season 3 by first posting a poll asking followers if they should make another season and then quickly following it up by saying that of course a new season is on its way.
While there is no date yet for when the show will return and there’s been no news on how many episodes it will have, the fact that there’s going to be a Season 3 is more than enough happiness for one day.
But now that it’s official, it has us thinking about all the things we want to see in thew new season. Here are 7 of those items.
1. Learn About Dustin’s Dad
Not only did we meet Lucas’ family last season, but we also met Dustin’s (Gaten Matarazzo), though it appeared his family contained just him and his mother. But, what about his dad? They never mentioned whether he had died, moved away, was divorced from his mom or any of the other reasons why he wasn’t around, but to help character development and understanding, it would be good to know more about Dustin’s family unit.
2. Meet Others With Special Abilities
We know Eleven and we just met Kali/Eight (Linnea Berthelsen), but what about subjects one through seven and then nine and 10? Some might be dead, but some might be alive, and hopefully we’ll see more of them in the next season and see what different types of abilities they have. That said, this time they should be the ones drawn to the town of Hawkins, instead of Eleven having to go to them.
3. Teamwork From The Start
In both of the first two seasons, the separate friend groups each tried to solve the mysteries on their own and didn’t share information with the others or even tell them that they, too, knew about was going on. And then towards the end of each season, they would all find out that each other knew about the mysterious situations and then they’d work together.
Good things happen when they work together and they should do it from the start of the next season, instead of waiting until the end. Plus, they’ve been through enough together at this point that there’s no reason to not team up and work through it all as a large group.
4. A Free Eleven
There’s no knowing yet how much time will have passed between the end of Season 2 and when Season 3 will pick up, but here’s hoping it will be at least a year, which will mean that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is free and clear to use the new birth certificate that Chief Hopper (Dave Harbour) got from the Hawkins Lab scientist for her to use.
5. See Nancy And Jonathan As An Actual Couple
It was a whole lot of will-they-won’t-they and a big love triangle, but at the end of the last season, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) finally got together. It will be interesting to see if they are still together when the show returns and what that might look like as an actual relationship. Plus, with Steve still around, how will he handle that?
6. More Of The Youngest Siblings
In Season 2, we met Lucas’ (Caleb McLaughlin) little sister and we already knew that Mike (Finn Wolfhard) had one as well, but do they know each other? It would be interesting to see them at whatever school they go to and how they are affected by the happenings in the town. Plus, we quickly learned that Lucas’ sister is funny in that sarcastic little sister way, but we haven’t yet seen much from Mike’s younger sister.
7. More Of Mike And Eleven’s Young Love
The young couple always has some of the emotional scenes of the series, but we didn’t get to see too much of them together again until the end of last season. In Season 3, it would be great to see them work through their feelings for each other and dealing with this first relationship of theirs, while also dealing with whatever danger is on the horizon.
Catch up on “Stranger Things” Season 1 and 2 on Netflix now before Season 3 sneaks up on you.
