Strauss-Kahn’s Daughter Questioned Over Father’s Rape Charge

Dominique Strauss-Kahn's daughter has been questioned over allegations that her father attempted to rape a French writer.

Camille Strauss- Kahn was brought in for inquiry in the French probe as a friend of the French writer, Tristane Banon, who brought the charge against her father.

Banon says Dominique Strauss-Kahn tried to wrench off her clothes and shoved his fingers in her mouth and underwear as she fought him off on the floor of an empty apartment during a 2003 interview for a book she was writing, the Associated Press reported.

Banon and her mother have been questioned about her legal complaint, as has Strauss-Kahn's second wife, Brigitte Guillemette, who is also Banon's godmother.

According to the Associated Press conflicted reports have been surfacing about what investigators have learnt so far from the questioning and it is unclear whether they have enough information to proceed with a trial.

Banon has received criticism on several French Websites as critics have questioned her motives for filing the legal complaint eight years late. Banon posted a message on Facebook on Tuesday thanking her online friends for defending her name against the criticism.

Banon, 32, came forward with her allegations shortly after Strauss-Kahn was arrested in New York for the alleged assault of a chambermaid in his hotel room.

She said she had not pursued the case at the time because everyone told me it would never succeed, but that following the allegations in New York there was perhaps a chance to finally be listened to, the BBC reported. Strauss-Kahn denies any wrongdoing, and has launched a counter-claim, suing Ms Banon for making false statements.

In New York Prosecutors are reevaluating the case after the chambermaid mislead them about her background and in details of some of the claims.
