Stream Atoms For Peace New Album ‘Amok’ Here; Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich Participate In Reddit AMA [LISTEN]
Atoms for Peace are giving fans a treat by streaming their new album, “Amok,” one week early. Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich, who are in Radiohead together, also answered fan questions during a Reddit AMA session.
Atoms for Peace is made up of Yorke (Radiohead) and Godrich (Radiohead and Ultraísta) on guitar, Flea (The Red Hot Chili Peppers) on bass and Joey Waronker (R.E.M. and Beck) on drums. While a handful of live dates with Yorke and Godrich have been announced, there has been no word on a full Atoms for Peace tour following “Amok.”
During the AMA session on Reddit, Yorke and Godrich dropped some hints about that as well as some new Radiohead news. They confirmed that Radiohead worked with Jack White at Third Man Records and the result was two unfinished songs, including “Identikit,” which Radiohead has played live in concert in 2012.
Other questions were answered rather vaguely, and fans looking for concrete answers may be upset, scratching their heads or smiling at the elusive nature of Yorke’s responses. Asked “Thom, do you plan to explore the low end of your range more in the future? I love how you sound on Wolf at the Door,” Yorke responded, “Yes i would love to. I know its there, ive heard it. its not naturally where i end up. So it's a good place to head, deep into the woods. The back of the cupboard.. ya nah?” Any insight to the creative process behind Radiohead or Atoms for Peace would have to be deciphered from Yorke’s answers.
The rest of the AMA follows suit, with some insights hidden among the vague responses. The two did say there will be live dates in addition to the announced “live DJ” set in New York in March, but no schedule was announced during the Reddit session. Yorke did say that Radiohead may assemble in April or May but, again, no real details for rabid fans.
For now, fans can make the most of the situation by streaming “Amok” by Atoms for Peace below.
