‘Street Fighter V’ Update: Capcom Releasing Improved CFN Following Disappointment Over Server Performance
Capcom just announced that a new Capcom Fighters Network for “Street Fighter V” is arriving this year. The Japanese video game developer is even launching a beta test, so it could gather feedback from players prior the official launch.
On Thursday, Capcom announced on its website that it is going to release an improved CFN system after several months of hard work. The company recognized that many “Street Fighter V” players are not pleased with how the existing server performance provides a “less than optimal experience.” And this is what propelled them to come up with a better CFN system that’s been built from the ground up.
However, before Capcom could even release this new CFN, it needs feedback from players to ensure its quality at launch. In light of this, the game developer is opening a PC Beta Test on March 28 at 1 p.m. PST, and it will run until April 3 at 12 p.m. PST. Capcom said this is going to be free to play for both existing and new players, but it will only be available via Steam.
Capcom pointed out that the PC Beta Test will only feature Online Modes. Interestingly, beta testers will get to see a sneak peek at the Season 2 Balance Adjustments the developers made. These include system changes and individual character adjustments. The full list is found here.
Meanwhile, the changes that players can expect from the new CFN include the tweaks on Rage Quit Penalty System, shorter transitions in-between the Ranked and Casual Match Loading Times, a better Friend Management System and Matchmaking improvements, among others.
Current players should not worry about overlapping because the beta is entirely separate from the PC game. However, Capcom said that the players’ username, rank, standing and other details will be carried over to the beta test. On the other hand, new players will have to setup their own CFN profile for the beta test once they have downloaded the software onto their computers.
Capcom also said that players should not expect data from the PC Beta Test to be incorporated into the main game. All replays, Fight Money and progress they’ll make in the beta Test will be deleted once testing ends.
Finally, to encourage everyone to join the PC Beta Test, Capcom is including new character Kolin as an unlocked player. Described as the Phantasm of Snow and Ice, Kolin was introduced in “Street Fighter V” late last month. Check out her moves below.
On a final note, Capcom said that once testing is done, the adjustments on optimization will be released on both PC and the PS4 version of the game shortly after.
