Student Opens Fire During Lecture After Teacher Orders Him To Leave For Misbehaving, 1 Classmate Dead
A 19-year-old boy opened fire at his classmates during a lecture at a college in Blagoveshchensk, Russia, on Thursday morning, before turning the gun on himself. Two students, including the shooter, were killed in the incident.
According to reports, the teacher ordered Daniil Zasorin to leave the class for misbehaving during the lecture. Moments later, he returned with an Izh-81 pump-action shotgun and opened fire at his classmates. He then ran to an auditorium on the first floor of the building where he fatally shot himself.
Four students who were injured in the firing were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries. The injured students underwent an emergency surgery but their condition was not known. Meanwhile, police discovered Zasorin’s bag in the toilet and found bullets hidden inside.
“The perpetrator committed suicide, using his own gun. It was registered in this citizen's name,” a Russian interior ministry source said. It was believed that the shooter managed to smuggle the gun under his coat to the college.
Meanwhile, expressing his condolences, the local governor, Vasily Orlov, said, “A tragedy happened today at the Amur College of Construction and Housing and Communal Services. Details, motives and reasons - investigators are working on this now. At the moment, it is known that the attacker was alone, and he died. I express my deepest condolences to the relatives of the dead and injured. We will provide them with all the necessary assistance. And I promise that we, for our part, will definitely understand why this has become possible in an educational institution.”
