In the Shawshank Redemption, Tim Robbins' character, Andy, dug his way out of prison with a rock hammer. In The Count of Monte Cristo, the main character, Edmond Dantes, escapes prison in the bodybag of his dead friend. And in Chetumal, Mexico, Maria del Mar Arjona tried to smuggle her boyfriend out if jail in her suitcase. But, instead, she ended up arrested herself.

A spokesman for police in the Caribbean state of Quintana Roo said staff at the prison noticed the woman apprehensively struggling with a black wheeled suitcase that looked bulky, MSNBC reported.

Spokesman Gerardo Campos said Monday that prison guards checked del Mar Arjona's bag and found her inmate boyfriend, Juan Ramirez Tijerina, stuffed in the suitcase in the fetal position. He was curled up in the suitcase wearing only his socks and underwear.

Ramirez, who jas been serving a 20-year sentence for illegal weapons possession since 2007.

Arjona was arrested and the charges are pending.
