- Atletico Madrid interested in taking in Suarez
Luis Suarez has yet to find a new club to play for next season and his recent social media post indicates that he is staying in Barcelona. Juventus has been linked to the Uruguayan but Suarez seems to be saying otherwise. That said, there is a new club in the mix with Atletico Madrid said to be in talks with the 33-year-old striker.
Suarez was widely believed to be in the final stages of securing a deal with Juve but somehow referenced to it as "fake news" following his post on Instagram. The caption of that post read: "When FAKE NEWS is coming out..." via Goal.
It will be recalled that Suarez was told by new manager Ronald Koeman to look for another club since he was not part of Barca's plans. However, there were suggestions that he could make a u-turn especially after Lionel Messi decided to stay at Camp Nou.
The social media post could mean something else, possibly explaining other transfer speculations. Further, it will be recalled in a previous post that Juventus was said to be helping facilitate the transfer of Suarez by negotiating an acceptable fee for the Uruguayan.
According to Goal, Suarez has already agreed to a personal agreement with Juventus for three-years. he will be paid $12 million per season. Tied up to that, Suarez is allegedly working on an Italian language exam to secure an Italian passport.
Making the fate of Suarez all the more complicated are fresh reports that Atletico Madrid has also expressed interest in the 33-year-old player. According to Deportes Cuatro via AS, Suarez is on the radar of Los Indios. The report further claims that Suarez prefers a move to the Spanish capital over Juventus.
For now, some take the Instagram post of Suarez as a sign that he is staying with the Catalan giants. He is in the final year of his contract which will automatically renew for another year if he plays more than 60 percent of his matches next season. Other than him, Koeman is the only person viable to shed light on his true status.
Suarez is the third all-time top goalscorer for Barca behind Messi and Cesar. He has won four La Ligas, four Copas del Rey and a Champions League since arriving in 2014.
