Subway Menu Adds Low Calorie Bread Option With Zero Sugar, 1-Net Carb
Sandwich lovers will have even more options at Subway thanks to the latest bread addition to the menu. The sandwich chain is remaking the empty calorie product by serving up a brand new 1-net-carb and zero-sugar bread option.
The new item will still feature the signature flavor of a Subway hero along with additional nutrients thanks to the makers of Hero Bread. Each six-inch roll contains 100 calories, 26 grams of fiber, and 12 grams of protein.
NFL all-star Tom Brady, who is famously picky about his diet, teamed up with Subway and showed his approval for the new low-calorie bread by taking a bite in the promotion. Brady is also an investor in Hero Labs, Inc., which owns Hero Bread.
In a promotion shared by Subway on social media, Brady praised the new menu item for allowing him to expand his dietary options.
“As well noted, your boy isn’t the biggest bread guy, but there’s a new bread that even I can eat,” Brady said. “Now I’m pumped that I can get back to bread, all because of Hero. Truly, unbelievable.”
Subway is testing the new Hero Bread sandwich rolls in locations in Colorado Springs, CO, Des Moines, Iowa, Boise, Idaho, and Savannah, Ga.
Starting Nov. 5, customers will be able to vote on other test markets where Subway will test the Hero Bread.
The latest addition to the menu is a part of the Subway Eat Fresh Refresh initiative, which was first rolled out on July 12 as a way to elevate the menu options and guest experience.
“Our new culinary team is delivering monumental updates to the entire core menu. The Eat Fresh Refresh makes Subway better than ever with freshly made, craveable, and delicious sandwiches to excite new and returning customers,” said Trevor Haynes, president, North America at Subway, said in a press release.
At the time, the brand update featured 20 menu updates, four revamped signature sandwiches, two new freshly baked breads, artisan Italian and hearty multigrain bread, and more.
