'Suicide Squad' Game Release Date Delayed To 2023
KEY POINTS
- "Kill The Justice League" has been delayed to 2023
- Other games like "Gotham Knights" are expected to release this year
- "LEGO Star Wars" has retained its April 5 release date
The release of the highly anticipated “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” game has been pushed back following complications with the development cycle amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rocksteady’s upcoming title based on a group of DC’s iconic villains has been “quietly delayed,” said Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier in a report, citing people familiar with the subject. As it stands, no concrete release date has been revealed through official channels as of late.
The game and three other titles from Warner Media have already been delayed in the past. Originally, “Suicide Squad: KTJL” was set to arrive sometime this year while the release dates for “Gotham Knights,” “Hogwarts Legacy” and “LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” were pushed from 2021 to 2022. Fans remain hopeful that the three other games will stick with their announced launch dates instead of following suit.
According to Schreier, Warner Bros. CEO Jason Kilar tweeted that “a slate of highly anticipated games” is due to release this year. The exact launch schedules for “Gotham Knights” and “Harry Potter Legacy” remain veiled in secret, and this doesn’t exactly inspire much faith from fans. However, “The Skywalker Saga” is still due out on April 5.
Fan reactions to the “Suicide Squad” delay have been generally positive so far, as per Game Rant. Users on Twitter said that the delay was acceptable considering how huge names like “Elden Ring,” “Horizon Forbidden West” and “God of War Ragnarok” are all slated to release in February alone. On the other hand, other users said that they’re fine with the delay so long as “Gotham Knights” would still get a 2022 release.
“Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Rocksteady, the original creators of the “Batman Arkham” series. Instead of playing as the caped crusader, “Kill The Justice League” will have players controlling Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot and Captain Boomerang as they try to eliminate the world’s greatest superheroes following Brainiac’s hostile takeover.
The game features a faster and more dynamic gameplay style similar to “Sunset Overdrive” compared to the “Arkham” games, as shown in the latest trailer.
