'Suicide Squad': Leaked Photos Show Hip-Hop Artist Common Wearing Tattoos
New photos from the Montreal set of the forthcoming film “Suicide Squad,” revealed by Just Jared, show rapper Common in his character costume. In the photos, he can be seen wearing a printed black jacket, black shirt and black pants.
The 43-year-old singer appears to have an eye tattoo on his forehead and a snake tattoo on his shaved head. He also seems to have piercings in his nose and on his lips. Web speculation suggests that Common will play Abel Tarrant, aka the Tattooed Man. In the comics, the Tattooed Man is a supervillain who can manipulate the tattoos on his body and can use them against his nemesis, the Green Lantern.
Apart from Abel Tarrant, other characters who have used the alias include John Oakes and Mark Richards. Oakes gets the abilities of the Tattooed Man after Tarrant transfers them by supernatural means.
It has yet not confirmed whether Common will play the Tattooed Man or some other character. “Suicide Squad” features various supervillians and antiheroes who form a squad that will execute a dangerous mission for the U.S. government in exchange for shorter prison sentences. They do so under the guidance of Amanda Waller (played by Oscar winner Viola Davis).
David Ayer is directing the movie and Richard Suckle, Charles Roven and Colin Wilson are the producers. The other cast members are Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne.
Smith will play Deadshot and will lead the team of supervillains. He is quite excited to play the role. “With this character and the DC world, I love that I’m getting the opportunity for the global definition of Deadshot. There’s been Deadshot in little appearances here and there, there’s an idea, but Deadshot isn’t defined, really. I get to be a part of the creation that will be the biggest historical image of Deadshot,” Smith told MTV News.
Another much-anticipated character is the Joker, played by Academy Award winner Leto. The psychopath villain will be seen sporting neon hair, white face, tainted teeth and an array of tattoos. “Suicide Squad” opens Aug. 5, 2016.
