‘Suits’ Season 6 Star Gina Torres Shares One Story Idea She Pitched To Aaron Korsh For Jessica’s Potential Return [SPOILERS]
Although this week’s Season 6 summer finale of “Suits” is Gina Torres’ last episode as a series regular on the hit USA legal drama, that doesn’t mean that fans have seen the last of Jessica Pearson yet. In fact, the 47-year-old actress was recently revealed to have pitched a story idea to series creator Aaron Korsh that would allow her character to return in the future.
In an interview with the New York Times, Torres confirmed that the fact that Jessica was not killed off and was simply moving to Chicago with her on-and-off boyfriend Jeff Malone (D. B. Woodside) leaves the door wide open for a comeback.
“You know these boys are going to screw it up at some point,” Torres said, referring to Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and Louis (Rick Hoffman) who are left in charge of running Pearson Specter Litt after Jessica stepped down as a managing partner of the firm. “It was one of my pitches to Aaron.”
“Those boys are going to mess up and they’re going to have to call [Jessica],” Torres added in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I believe that. I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but that story’s not done, ‘cause everybody comes back.”
Korsh told Deadline that there’s currently no plans to bring Torres back to the show, but he did say that fans “will probably see her again.” “Maybe not in the back six [episodes], but at least from time to time moving forward,” he said.
Even NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Chairman Bonnie Hammer said that Torres can come back to “Suits” anytime.
“Gina took a fantastic character and ran with it, deepened it, and dressed it up to the nines,” Hammer said in a statement on behalf of USA Network. “Not only will I miss her personally, I’ll miss her contribution to the show’s great chemistry, which is why the door will always be WAY open for her return.”
“Suits” Season 6, episode 11 is expected to air sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
