Daniel Roman is set to defend his WBA and IBF 'super' bantamweight belts against savvy amateur veteran Murodjon Akhmadaliev on September 13 at the MSG Arena in New York City.

Roman, a 29-year-old American boxer is on a 19-win streak since 2014. He started his career with eight wins, two losses, and a draw. The Los Angeles, California native, surged through the rankings after winning the vacant WBA-NABA 'super' bantamweight title against Daniel Noriega in 2015.

Fondly known by his fans as the"The Baby Faced Assassin," Roman will be defending his title for 9th time versus Akhmadaliev. In 2017, he went to Japan to win the WBA 'regular' bantamweight title against Shun Kubo. In April he stripped T.J. Doheny of the IBF 'super' bantamweight belt on a Majority decision victory.

Roman has successfully defended his 'super' bantamweight titles against the likes of Moises Flores, Gavin McDonnell and Ryo Matsumoto.

Akhmadaliev is also no pushover, despite having only six wins in his pro career (five from knockouts) the Uzbekistani boxer is an Olympic veteran. He recently turned pro last year and has a total of 315 amateur fights on his resume.

The 24-year-old slugger has won 300 of those matches, and he won a bronze medal in 2016' Rio Olympic games. In 2015, he won the silver medal in the World Amateur Championships and the Asian Amateur Championships.

Two years later he won the Gold medal in the Asian Amateur Championships held at his home country in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The younger Akhmadaliev is known as a power puncher with a solid right hook.

Roman said that everyone that knows him "understands that I'm a real fighter." He added that he would "fight anyone they put in front of me. Akhmadaliev is hungry, but so am I."

The American fighter also regarded himself as one of the world's best, and he is keen on adding more belts to his impressive career. "As a unified champion, I understand I have a target on my back," quipped Roman as he understands that there is no time to relax against a slugger like Murodjon.

Akhmadaliev also said that he is ready for the challenge. He told reporters that he's delighted "that Daniel Roman took this fight." He summed that he and Roman "are both warriors and this will be a real war!"
