Super Bowl 2012: Live Stream Giants vs Patriots 2 p.m. EST, 4 1/2 Hours Before Kickoff

It is Super Bowl Sunday and though kickoff time isn't until 6:29 p.m. EST, NBC will begin live streaming the New England Patriots versus Giants online at 2 p.m. EST.

Super Bowl 46 will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Super Bowl XLVI will be broadcast live on NBC with Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth doing commentary. It is the first time ever that NBCSports.com will stream the game on its Web site. The match between the New England Patriots (15-3) and the New York Giants (12-7) promises to be an exciting one, as just four years ago these two teams met up with each other in a memorable NFL Super Bowl game that saw a 17-14 victory by the Giants over the previously undefeated Patriots.

NFL Making Live Stream Possible

The NFL is also making it possible for viewers to watch the 2012 Super Bowl via live stream online at NFL.com or with the NFL Mobile (iOS, Android) app. Verizon is the official wireless service provider of the NFL. Users will have to download NFL Mobile Premium on their Verizon devices in order to get the live video app feature and other great features. For users with 4GLTE-ready devices, the premium service app is free. However, for those with only 3G capability, they will have to pay $10 per month to watch the live video streams. With this app app users will also get various camera angles, stats and more.

There is talk that if the Patriots and its quarterback Tom Brady and coach Bill Belichick win on Sunday, they are setting a legacy that involves being called the greatest ever.

Tom E. Curran's NBC Sports post spelled out why they would be talked about as greats, Four Super Bowl wins and five appearances in 10 seasons. The sixth ring for Belichick in his coaching career, Brady with a 141-40 lifetime record and a 17-5 postseason mark.

Super Bowl Halftime Show

Besides the electrifying game that is about to take place in less than eight hours, viewers who watch the Super Bowl are also anticipating the halftime show.

Madonna is currently working on a new album scheduled to be released next year. It is fifth time that Bridgestone Americas has sponsored the Super Bowl halftime show.

Super Bowl Ads, Commercials

Another big part of Super Bowl Sunday is the ads and commercials that will be seen by some 111 million people on Sunday. Several of those ads and teasers have been released in the days leading up to the 2012 Super Bowl event and it has been reported that companies have shelled out big bucks to get that 30 second ad features in the game. Approximately 36 ads will be shown.

It has been estimated that the ads each sold for approximately $3.5 million each. Big names such as Honda, Priceline, Kia and Sketchers are some of the most-anticipated ads.
