The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a hard-fought 54-51 road loss to the Los Angeles Rams that have put their hopes of home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs in jeopardy. Oddsmakers, however, still have the Chiefs in strong contention to win their first title since 1970.

Vegas Insider has the Chiefs at 6/1 odds to win the Super Bowl, good for third best in the league. The New Orleans Saints are at the top with 3/1 odds, while the Rams are just below them at 4/1 odds. The New England Patriots are fourth with 15/2 odds and are followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers are fifth with 17/2 odds.

The Chiefs have a strong shot of going deep into the postseason. According to Vegas Insider, the Chiefs are favorites to win the AFC West with 1/20 odds. The Los Angeles Chargers are a distant second at 10/1 odds. The Chiefs' chances at their third straight AFC West title were bolstered by a Week 1 road victory over the Chargers.

Kansas City is at 9/4 odds to win the AFC, good for best in the conference.

The Chiefs have a bye week this weekend, followed by a road date with the struggling Oakland Raiders. Three of their last four games are at Arrowhead Stadium, including a possible division title match with the Chargers on Dec. 13.

The Patriots and Steelers are expected to be the Chiefs’ biggest challenge to the top seed in the AFC. New England has a relatively weak schedule from here on out, with the biggest challenge being a road game against the Steelers on Dec. 16.

The Steelers, on the other hand, have some serious obstacles ahead of them. Mike Tomlin's squad has dates with the Chargers, Patriots and Saints on the schedule.
