The New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs enter the conference championship games with the best odds to win Super Bowl LIII, putting them ahead of the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams. Long before the 2019 NFL playoffs, those roles were reversed.

When the betting odds for Super Bowl LIII opened, it was the Patriots that were given the best chance of the group to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. New England led the way at 5/1 after coming up short in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles

Instead of being ranked last among the four teams, the Rams started with the second-best odds of the group. They opened with 18/1 odds after winning the NFC West last season and losing to the Atlanta Falcons in the wild-card round.

The Saints and Chiefs both opened with worse than 20/1 Super Bowl odds. New Orleans made it to last year’s divisional playoffs, but Drew Brees would start the 2018 season at 39 years old. Few knew what to expect from Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes taking over as the starting quarterback for the first time.

A lot has obviously changed since the offseason and 19 weeks of football. All four teams were among the league’s best in the regular season. Home-field advantage is really what gives New Orleans and Kansas City the best odds to win this year’s title.

New Orleans is favored by a field goal over Los Angeles in the NFC Championship Game at the Superdome, per OddsShark. Kansas City is laying a field goal against New England at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Saints would likely be a small favorite over the Chiefs or Patriots. Any other Super Bowl matchup is projected to be a pick’em.
