Super Bowl 52 Odds: Patriots, Eagles, Steelers Favorites In 2017 NFL Season
As the NFL heads into Week 12 of the 2017 season, one Super Bowl LII favorite stands out in each conference. The New England Patriots (+310) have the best betting odds of anyone in the AFC, and the Philadelphia Eagles (+400) are the clear favorites in the NFC.
The latest odds at Bovada.lv favor a repeat of the 2017 AFC Championship Game, which saw New England beat the Pittsburgh Steelers (+600). The two teams are tied for the best record in the conference, and they are the only AFC teams with better than 16/1 championship odds.
The 2018 NFC Championship Game has a very good chance to feature two teams that didn’t even make last year’s postseason. The Eagles and New Orleans Saints (+800) are the only NFC teams with better than 12/1 title odds, and neither team was in the 2017 playoffs. The Minnesota Vikings (+1200) have the third-best odds in the NFC after going 8-8 a year ago.
It would be surprising to see anyone but New England or Pittsburgh make a run to the Super Bowl from the AFC. The Kansas City Chiefs (+1600) don’t appear to be the threat that they once were, following four losses in their last five games.
The Jacksonville Jaguars (+2200) are all alone with the conference’s third-best record, though it’s hard to see them actually playing in the year’s biggest game in February. Jacksonville’s offense is far from one of the league’s best, and the franchise hasn’t won a playoff game in a decade.
The Seattle Seahawks (+1400) and Los Angeles Rams (+1600) could be fighting for the NFC West title until the final week of the regular season. Seattle has won a playoff game in each of the last five years, but L.A. has been in first place for most of the season.
Only about a third of the NFL’s teams are considered to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Twelve teams have better than 50/1 Super Bowl odds, including the Carolina Panthers (+2200), Atlanta Falcons (+2800) and Detroit Lions (+2800).
The Dallas Cowboys (+5000) are long shots to win the Super Bowl after getting blown out on “Sunday Night Football.” The same goes for the Tennessee Titans (+5000) after being blown out on “Thursday Night Football,” though they appear likely to make the postseason.
