Super Bowl MVP Early Betting Odds: Drew Brees, Jared Goff, Tom Brady, Tyreek Hill In The Hunt?
The conference championships kick off on Sunday, with the New Orleans Saints hosting the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC game, while the Kansas City Chiefs are at home against the New England Patriots.
With the Saints and Chiefs favored to advance, there is already speculation as to who will win the Most Valuable Player award for the Super Bowl in Atlanta on Feb. 3.
The Saints have the best odds (19/10) to win the Super Bowl, so oddsmakers have listed quarterback Drew Brees as the favorite at +200, according to betting site OddsShark.com. The veteran took Super Bowl MVP honors in 2010 in his lone trip to the title game.
But Brees is followed close behind by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (+300), who is considered the favorite to win the regular-season MVP. Kansas City was given 5/2 odds to win the Super Bowl.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has four MVP award and was given +450 odds to win his fifth. Brady was followed by young Rams quarterback Jared Goff (+600). The Patriots have 18/5 odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Rams have the weakest odds at 4/1.
After the four quarterbacks are three running backs. The Rams' Todd Gurley (+1,200), the Saints' Alvin Kamara (+1,400) and the Patriots' Sony Michel (+1,600). Both Saints running back Mark Ingram and Chiefs leading running back Damien Williams were not listed.
After the running backs are two wide receivers: the Saints' Michael Thomas (+2,000) and the Chiefs' Tyreek Hill (+2,000).
Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, the only defensive player on the list, rounds out the top 10 with +2,500 odds.
In the last 12 years, a quarterback has won the MVP award nine times. Last year's winner was Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. The last non-quarterback to win the Super Bowl MVP was Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller in 2016.
