Super Bowl Odds For Packers, Buccaneers Drop, Broncos Have Little Chance To Win Championship
The 2022 NFL season is six weeks old, and some of the teams that were expected to be contenders aren't playing like possible champions. The result has been a significant change in some of the Super Bowl odds, including the NFC preseason favorites.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers started the season with the best odds to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LVII. All three of those teams are 3-3 and have been surpassed by the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles, which lead the league by a considerable margin with +550 odds to win the championship at FanDuel Sportsbook.
The Buccaneers' +1100 Super Bowl odds make Tom Brady and Co. a distant second in the conference. Tampa Bay entered the season opener with +750 odds as the clear favorite in the conference.
Three losses in four games have raised questions about Tampa Bay's title hopes. The Bucs are tied with the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the NFC South.
The defending champion Los Angeles Rams entered Week 1 as the second favorites in the NFC with +1100 odds to repeat. The Green Bay Packers, which had the league's best record a season ago, had +1200 odds. In Week 7, the Rams' odds are down to +2300, while the Packers sit at +2000.
Los Angeles has not beaten a team that has a winning record. The Rams have been defeated by double digits and failed to score more than 10 points in all three of their losses. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Rams 24-9 in Week 4 and have +1900 Super Bowl odds.
Green Bay has been upset by both New York football teams in consecutive weeks, including a 27-10 loss at Lambeau Field against the Jets. Without a true No. 1 wide receiver, Aaron Rodgers doesn't have much chance to win a third straight MVP award. The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Packers in the season opener and have a two-game lead atop the NFC North.
Minnesota is third in the NFC with +1700 Super Bowl odds. The Packers and Rams rank 24th and 25th, respectively, in scoring offense.
No team has seen its Super Bowl odds plummet worse than the Denver Broncos. With +9000 odds after a 2-4 start, the Broncos are given little to no chance of actually competing for a championship.
Denver started its first season with Russell Wilson under center with +1700 odds to win the championship. The quarterback has been an utter disappointment. Wilson's passer rating (83.4), touchdown passes (five) and completion percentage (58.6%) are the worst numbers of his career through the first six games of any season.
The Broncos are scoring a league-worst 15.2 points per game.
The Buffalo Bills are the overall Super Bowl favorites with +290 odds. The Kansas City Chiefs are second at +800.
