- A fully-revamped Watch Mode will provide new, user-controlled cameras for AI-versus-AI games
The next update for “Super Mega Baseball 3” will include online multiplayer leagues and players can actually play out their seasons across platforms.
Beginning Sept. 29, the Online Leagues (which were originally called “Custom Pennant Race”) will be available for “Super Mega Baseball 3” on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Polygon reported.
The co-founder of Metalhead Software, Scott Drader, said that even players with just the free trial or demo versions of “Super Mega Baseball 3” can get involved in Online Leagues and even play against those who have the full version of the game.
“Between the cross-platform invite codes and the fact new users can get started in Online Leagues with just the trial or demo version of the game, we’re stoked for the potential this mode has to massively grow the SMB community,” Drader said.
The game feature is also playable via matchmaking with friends or those online. For those who want to coordinate their playing times with other users, there is a match-against-specific user feature to accommodate them too.
As long as a league is configured with default settings, players of the demo of “Super Mega Baseball 3” will be allowed to join a league created by a friend. Otherwise, a league with different settings from default requires all users to have the full version of the game.
Unlike the Pennant Race mode in “Super Mega Baseball 3,” Online Leagues on default settings will allow players to use all of the teams from the game’s standard roster. They can also adjust the game’s difficulty scale (dubbed “Ego”), along with other visual customizations.
The coming update will also give players of “Super Mega Baseball 3” access to a fully revamped Watch Mode for AI-versus-AI games. This mode will provide new, user-controlled cameras to allow viewers to have a more enjoyable viewing experience when not competing.
