Superbon-Allazov Clash Rescheduled Again; Nong-O's Title Defense Moved To New Date
KEY POINTS
- Superbon Singha Mawynn's ONE featherweight kickboxing title defense is moved to January
- Chingiz Allazov will still be his opponent at the event
- Nong-O Gaiyanghadao versus Alaverdi Ramazanov was announced for ONE Lumpinee
Superbon Singha Mawynn's defense of the ONE featherweight kickboxing title against Chingiz Allazov has once again been rescheduled after the champion was reported to have fallen ill ahead of their meeting at ONE on Prime Video 5 this Saturday, December 3 (Friday, December 2 in the United States).
ONE Championship's official website made the revelation and also confirmed that their clash will instead take place at ONE on Prime Video 6 in the main event on January 14 (January 13 for fans in North America).
Superbon and Allazov's fight is no stranger to postponement as the pair were first scheduled to meet at ONE on Prime Video 2 back on October 1.
Ahead of the event, Allazov was forced off the card due to an injury a week before and No. 5-ranked featherweight kickboxer Tayfun Ozcan stepped in his place.
However, Superbon was not medically cleared to compete just a day before the event before the Singapore-based promotion later announced that their match will instead take place at ONE on Prime Video 5.
Fans can afford to wait a bit before seeing the explosive title clash as Superbon would want to be in top condition as he puts both his 12-fight winning streak, dating back to his time outside of ONE Championship, and ONE featherweight kickboxing title on the line against a challenger who is raring to beat him.
"Chinga" earned his shot at the title after claiming the 2021 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix title against Superbon's fellow countryman Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at ONE X back in March.
Allazov's pursuit of the featherweight kickboxing title will not get any easier though, as ONE on Prime Video 6 will be taking place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand–Superbon's home country.
Superbon has proven to be the ONE featherweight kickboxing division's version of mixed martial arts (MMA) icon Anderson Silva as his previous challengers for the belt have found no answers for his superb blend of striking and precision.
Other than Thai fans being able to witness live Superbon and Allazov duking it out, they will also get an extra treat of sorts a week later as Nong-O Gaiyangahadao takes on Alaverdi Ramazanov in defense of his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai title.
The pair is set to headline ONE Lumpinee on January 20 after originally being scheduled for ONE on Prime Video 6, with Nong-O looking to notch his 10th-straight win.
Their bout was originally scheduled for ONE X, but Ramazanov was forced to pull out from the card due to the Singaporean government banning all Russian athletes from entering the country because of the invasion of Ukraine as announced by ONE Championship chairman Chatri Sityodtong.
