‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Is This Lena Luthor’s First Huge Step In Rebranding LuthorCorp? [PHOTOS]
The cast and crew of “Supergirl” were spotted in and outside of Vancouver Central Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 14, while rehearsing and filming scenes for its upcoming Season 2.
According to YVRShoots, the CW series turned the Vancouver Central Public Library into a venue for a LuthorCorp charity gala for the National City Children’s Hospital. As seen in the photos of the materials for the fictional event, the charitable occasion comes with the slogan, “Donate & Heal The Future.”
In a number of behind-the-scenes snapshots, Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers/Supergirl), Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott), Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen), Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor) and other cast members and extras were seen doing some blocking with director Glen Winter before the actual filming begins.
While not confirmed, the charity gala appears to be part of Lena’s attempt to rebrand the image of their family’s billion-dollar tech company.
When TVLine broke the news of McGrath’s casting last month, the news outlet reported that Lena arrives in National City hoping for a fresh start following the imprisonment of her brother Lex Luthor. As the newly appointed CEO of Luthor Corp, her mission is to rebrand the company as a force of good after its reputation was tarnished by Lex.
On the same day, just outside the Vancouver Central Public Library, Benoist was also spotted filming a scene where Supergirl helped catch robbers. For the scene, the 27-year-old actress just did a brief sequence of bending down and then jumping up in the air as if flying straight up. According to YVRShoots, her stunt double Atlin Mitchell and VFX were expected to complete the sequence.
The façade of Vancouver Central Public Library was transformed into the National City Diamond Exchange for that particular outdoor filming,
“Supergirl” Season 2 premieres on Monday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
