‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Mehcad Brooks Debuts As The Guardian In Episode 6 ‘Changing’
James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) is suiting up as the Guardian for the first time in Season 2, episode 6 of “Supergirl.”
According to the synopsis for the episode, entitled “Changing,” James decides to go out in the street as his new vigilante identity to do his share in protecting the people of National City after Supergirl’s (Melissa Benoist) power is drained by a parasite alien.
News that James is suiting up as the Guardian this season was first revealed by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg during a press Q&A earlier this month.
“James has a pretty big turn, coming up,” Kreisberg said (via Collider) when asked what fans can expect from James in the sophomore run of the CW series. “These next few episodes are going to make him realize that being a photographer and sitting behind [a desk] is not going to be enough for him. … James is going to decide that he can no longer sit back and be a sidekick, so he’s going to decide to become a vigilante, and he’s going to become Guardian, complete with the shield.”
Christmas came early for Brooks when he discovered that James is going to become the Guardian this season. In response to a fan tweet, Brooks shared what his reaction was when he found out about the news. “I was like a kid on Christmas,” the 35-year-old actor wrote on the social networking site.
Brooks also seemingly confirmed on Twitter that he already knew about James’ new storyline during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) last July. “I can keep a secret,” he tweeted in response to a fan tweet asking him if he’s already aware of the new twist during the time of the SDCC.
Also in episode 6, CatCo intern Mon-El (Chris Wood) considers a less than desirable new career which leads him to reflect on his motives. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) struggles with a new reality.
“Supergirl” Season 2, episode 6 airs Monday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
