‘Supergirl’ Season 3, Episode 10 Photos: See Mon-El, Saturn Girl, Brainiac-5’s Costumes
The CW has released the promo photos for Season 3, episode 10 of “Supergirl,” and some of the pictures give fans their first look at Mon-El (Chris Wood), Saturn Girl (Amy Jackson) and Brianiac-5 (Jesse Rath) wearing their Legion of Superheroes costumes.
While the trio’s suits are not exactly the same with the characters’ costumes in the comic book, the dark and leathery attires of the Legion members in the series are clearly inspired by the characters’ looks in the source material.
“They’re always true to the comic,” Wood told Empire of the costumes last November. “They at least give a severe hat tip to the comics in terms of design. … They stay true like they have with ‘Flash’ and ‘Arrow’ and ‘Supergirl.’”
According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, Mon-El, Saturn Girl and Brainiac-5 suit up to help the DEO stop Reign (Odette Annable), who continues her rampage on National City. The DEO gladly accepts the Legion’s assistance as Kara (Melissa Benoist) remains in a dreamlike state following her brutal fight with the Wordkiller last episode.
Episode 10 marks the series debut of Brainiac-5, a half-computer, half-organic life with a 12-level intellect. In the comics, Supergirl travels to the 31st century to fight alongside the Legion, and during that time, she grew to be more than just teammates with Brainiac-5.
Interestingly, based on an interview with former executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, it seems that the show’s version of Brainiac-5 will also develop feelings for Kara. “Someone down the road will like Kara a lot, which will be a lot of fun,” Kreisberg told TVLine last October. Could that someone be Brainiac-5?
“Supergirl” Season 3, episode 10, aptly titled “Legion of Superheroes,” airs on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. But after airing new episodes in four consecutive weeks, “Supergirl” will go on another hiatus and turn over the show’s time slot to “Legends of Tomorrow” starting Feb. 12 “Supergirl” will then reclaim its Monday home on April 16, following the Season 3 finale of “Legends of Tomorrow” on April 9. “Supergirl” will stay in the time slot until its Season 3 finale on June 18.
