‘Supergirl’ Season 3 Spoilers: Calista Flockhart Set To Recur
Calista Flockhart will be reprising her role as Cat Grant in Season 3 of “Supergirl.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cat will appear in Season 3 premiere and is expected to recur on the CW series in the new season. Showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner announced Flockhart’s return ahead of the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.
Flockhart was a series regular in Season 1. But after the show’s production was moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, the Golden Globe-winning actress and Warner Bros. TV reached an agreement that she would only return for Season 2 as a recurring guest star.

Keeping Flockhart onboard with the new filming location had been an issue because the actress was not willing to move with her family to Vancouver. Although she was not obligated to continue, Flockhart decided not to leave the show completely.
Flockhart reprised her role as Cat in the first two and the last two episodes of Season 2. At the end of the show’s sophomore run, Cat returned to National City and released a broadcast, telling the city’s residents to fight back during the Daxamite invasion. Cat also offered Kara (Melissa Benoist) a heart-to-heart talk which prompted the journalist to team up with her adversaries Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) and Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) in getting rid of Rhea (Teri Hatcher) and her army of Daxamites. At the end of the finale, it was revealed that Cat knew that Kara was Supergirl all along.
In an interview with ComicBook.com last May, Benoist said that the high point of the finale was none other than Cat. “I missed her so much! Having her back felt really good,” Benoist said of the former series regular. “She elevates the show in a way no one else can.”
News of Flockhart’s return is the latest bit of casting news for Season 3. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane on “Smallville,” will take over the role of Kara’s late biological mother, Alura Zor-El. Alura was originally played by Laura Benanti.
“Supergirl” Season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
