‘Supergirl’ Season 3 Spoilers: Chyler Leigh Talks Alex And Maggie’s Wedding Planning
“Supergirl” star Chyler Leigh has revealed that Alex and Maggie are already planning for their nuptials when Season 3 of the CW series premieres next week. While wedding planning seems to be an exciting thing for every engaged couple, organizing the special event puts Alex in an uncomfortable position.
“When we come back, they’re in the process of planning the wedding,” Leigh told Entertainment Weekly. “[But] it becomes quite an uncomfortable position for Alex, because obviously when you’re planning a wedding, you’re talking about inviting family and one of the most important people to her is her dad, and he’s not going to be there. So for her it’s bittersweet.”
Alex and his dad Jeremiah (Dean Cain) were last seen together in Season 2, episode 15, where it was revealed that he’s helping Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) with Project Exodus. Alex was shocked to find out that Jeremiah was aiding Lillian in deporting aliens from Earth. He, however, explained that Lillian originally wanted to have the aliens killed but he managed to convince her to just deport them instead.
When Alex told his dad that neither she nor Kara (Melissa Benoist) would want him to do anything that would hurt others, Jeremiah made the right choice and turned against Cadmus. But at the end of the episode, Cyborg Superman (David Harewood) came after Jeremiah and Alex’s dad was again taken by Cadmus. Although Lillian and Cyborg Superman went on to appear in a couple of episodes after that, Jeremiah has never seen again.
While it’s unclear whether Alex and Maggie’s wedding will actually happen considering Lima’s decision to exit the show as a series regular, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly that the they’ve come up with a story that “really honors what’s come before them, and honors how much they love each other, and how much they mean to each other, and how much they’ve changed each other’s lives.”
While Kreisberg described Lima’s Season 3 stint as “emotional” and “heartbreaking,” the executive producer made it clear that they are not killing off Maggie. “Maggie does not die,” Kreisberg said. “I’m sure a lot of people are afraid of that. Maggie will continue to exist in the world and we hope that if the opportunity presents itself for her, that she’ll come back from time to time.”
“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
