‘Supergirl’ Stars Are Ready For More ‘Flash,’ ‘Arrow’ Crossovers
Fans know that the best thing about “Supergirl” Season 2 moving to the CW is all the crossover possibilities. After February’s successful crossover with “The Flash,” viewers can’t wait to see more, and the actors feel the same.
“I think it’s only fitting,” star Melissa Benoist told DC All Access when asked about her character connecting with other heroes. “Like, I think it’s a logical thing to do. We’re all on the same network. Everyone wants to see those characters interact. I think it’s so fun. I’m excited.”
Mehcad Brooks, who plays James Olsen, revealed that he wants to expand the show's guest list. Though only the Flash (Grant Gustin) visited National City in Season 1, Brooks hopes for a run-in with the Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) too. “Arrow would be amazing,” Brooks added. “We could have ‘Super Arrow’ or ‘Flash Arrow’—‘Flarrow’ or ‘Super Jane the Virgin.’” (It sounds like “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez is also ready for that wacky episode, despite not being in the DC Universe.)
“Supergirl” will get a crossover next year, and it seems like they’ll be meeting more than one superhero. As previously reported, they are set to join the winter multi-episode event with all the other DC shows on the CW. “Next season, ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash,’ ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and now ‘Supergirl’ will join forces in our annual crossover event, our biggest ever,” CW President Mark Pedowitz revealed last month at Upfronts (via Entertainment Weekly).
However, Benoist warned that Kara isn’t going to jump into a relationship with Barry, even if they do get more face time. The Flash and Supergirl are just friends. “I don't know if they'd ever get together,” Benoist shared in another DC All Access interview (via Comic Book Resources). “I think they’re too similar ... I think they’re pals, like pigging out on ice cream.”
“Supergirl” Season 2 premieres on The CW in the fall.
