“SuperMash,” the popular game that allows players to make games, will arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on May 8.

Developer Digital Continue made its announcement on Twitter and accompanied it with a launch trailer highlighting the fun gameplay and interesting elements formed in “SuperMash.”

As mentioned, it allows players to make their own 2D game with a unique gameplay by combining different genres. Players can mix together two to six 2D classic genres – such as Metrovania, Shoot ‘em Up, Stealth, Platformer, JRPG and Action Adventure – and play a randomly generated game (called Mashes).

While there are glitches and the mixture of genres can be chaotic at times, they only add to the overall appeal of the game.

“Through positive and negative glitches, SuperMash creates unique and unpredictable scenarios by altering the mechanics of the Mashes the game gives you. Additionally, players can control certain elements of what they play by applying Dev Cards, which represent a generous selection of characters, enemies, environments, and more,” Digital Continue said in their description of the game, via Gematsu.

Moreover, “SuperMash” has a story mode where players can run a video game store and take on different quests “by assisting customers and stocking the shelves.”

To keep things more engaging for their community, players can also share online the unique playable codes of the Mashes they created.

On the other hand, as part of the consoles launch, those who already have the game on PC will be receiving an update on the Epic Games Store for several fixes and improvements. Most notable in the upcoming update is the addition of a new tileset for the shoot ’em up genre, as well as a new JRPG characters inspired by turn-based monster-catching games.

“SuperMash” has been a massive hit since its 2019 release on PC, even drawing huge attention during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase in December. It is currently only available on the Epic Games Store, but it can be purchased on the respective digital stores of PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch once it is rolled out for the said platforms.

The game is priced at $19.99.
