‘Supernatural’ Season 11 Spoilers: Jared Padalecki Talks Impalacentric Episode, Teases Car Wash Scene
“Supernatural” may have centered its past 10 seasons around the wild and paranormal-filled lives of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles), but it looks like another Winchester will get to step -- or should we say drive? -- into the spotlight when Season 11 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7. According to reports, Dean’s beloved car will star in a future episode of the hit CW series.
Fans first learned about the Impalacentric installment when the “Supernatural” showrunner Jeremy Carver revealed at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con that episode 4, titled “Baby,” would be filmed entirely in the vehicle.
“It’s done in a very clever ‘Supernatural’ way, mind you, but episode four is a very cool episode,” Padalecki said while discussing the episode with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s all about the Impala. We’ve had this third lead character for 10 seasons strong and, we’re not revealing a personality, but we see just how much a part of the Winchesters’ lives it is.”
Ackles previously divulged his excitement about the automobile-focused installment, adding that while filming the episode, he was reminded of the 2010 film “Buried,” a movie that takes place inside a wooden coffin.
“I’ve watched that movie ‘Locke.’ Fantastic movie. But then I’ve also seen the movie ‘Buried’ with Ryan Reynolds. It was great. Ryan did a great job, but all I wanted to see was just a shot of the desert. ‘Just get me out of the box for a second! Give me an establishing shot! And then we can go back in the box.’ And, of course, it never happens, so it felt a little claustrophobic,” he said.
But fans shouldn’t worry about feeling suffocated -- after all, the boys will be stepping outside the Impala to give her a good scrub in episode 4.
“We gotta keep her clean,” Padalecki quipped about the impending car-wash scene.
