‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Spoilers: Will Castiel Have A Relationship With Mary Winchester?
Last season on The CW’s “Supernatural,” Castiel/Cas sacrificed himself to become a vessel for Lucifer. He thought that was their best shot at defeating Amara/The Darkness. What’s next for the angel now that he’s got his body back in Season 12? If spoilers are to be believed, Castiel fans are in for an intense season since he takes center stage in the upcoming season.
“Supernatural” showrunner Andrew Dabb told TVLine that Season 12 will tell some personal stories about Castiel (Misha Collins) both in terms of his relationship with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) and his past.
Furthermore, the angel is going to have a connection with Dean and Sam’s mother, Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith). But will their relationship be a romantic one? “He and Mary have a connection,” Dabb said. “It’s not a romantic one, but they have a lot in common. They’re both strangers in a strange land, in a way.”
Dabb also explained that “Supernatural” will focus more on Cas. “We wanted to focus [Cas] down a bit more,” he said. “He feels responsible for Lucifer getting out of the cage, although as we’ll learn, pretty much everyone else on our show feels responsible for that, too. Obviously, as threats to Sam and Dean come up, he will be there to stand by our boys’ side.”
The “Supernatural” Season 12 premiere kicks off with Dean, Mary and Cas rescuing Sam who is kidnapped by Lady Toni (Elizabeth Blackmore) and the British Men of Letters. Although the rescue mission is the focus of the first three episodes, once Dean and Sam are reunited, several new enemies emerge. The Winchesters will not only be fighting against the British Men of Letters and Lucifer (Rick Springfield), but they will also be facing off against Hitler.
Additionally, king of hell Crowley (Mark Sheppard) will be on a mission to take back his throne and take revenge on Lucifer for humiliating him.
“Supernatural” Season 12 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
