‘Supernatural’ Season 15 Finale Update: Here’s Why Dean And Sam Dean May Not Die

“Supernatural” Season 15 finale might not feature the deaths of Sam and Dean Winchester despite the cast and crew dropping hints of an emotional conclusion to the long-running CW series.

The last episode of “Supernatural” Season 15 will air on Nov. 19, and one of the biggest questions fans want answered is whether or not the Winchester brothers both survive at the end. Both Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who play Dean and Sam, respectively, have hinted in various interviews that they do not see the brothers making it out alive.

But with the afterlife being an integral part of the show, death might not be the end of Sam and Dean’s journey.

The main villain in the “Supernatural” Season 15 finale is God himself, and the brothers might lose their lives in the process of taking the being down. But with Lucifer’s son Jack (Alexander Calvert) and Billie (Lisa Berry), the current incarnation of Death, by their sides, the brothers might be given a chance to return to the land of the living as a reward for saving the universe.

Following God’s death, Jack could replace him, and Castiel (Misha Collins) may become an advisor and father figure to the new God, according to Screen Rant's plot prediction.

Meanwhile, another indication that Sam and Dean may survive is Ackles’ suggestion that “Supernatural” could resume after a short break following Season 15.

Speaking with Michael Rosenbaum on the “Inside of You” podcast, the actor said that he wants to play Dean Winchester once more after “Supernatural" Season 15 wraps, maybe five years down the line.

“I've always thought that there was a possibility of five years down the road, getting the call and saying, 'Hey, let’s do a little short-order action for a streaming network and bring it back for six episodes,'” Ackles told Rosenbaum.

“I do feel like this isn’t the long goodbye right now,” he continued. “I feel like this is, ‘Let’s hang this in the closet for now, and we’ll dust her off down the road a bit.'”

Ackles had expressed similar sentiments in August last year during the Television Critics Association press tour when he said Dean and Sam were going away only for a while, TVLine reported.

“I think we’re just going to go away for a while. For how long, I don’t know,” he said at the time.

“Supernatural” Season 15 will return to The CW on Oct. 8 with “Last Holiday.”
