Jared Padalecki has addressed speculations that there is bad blood between him and his longtime “Supernatural” co-star Jensen Ackles.
The rumor started in June when a fan asked Padalecki on Twitter if he was involved in the rumored “Supernatural” prequel and Padalecki gave a cryptic response.
At that time, Padalecki told the fan that he hadn’t heard of the project and was gutted about not being involved. He then retweeted Ackles’ tweet about the news and said, “Dude. Happy for you. Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever.”
Following his now-deleted tweet, Padalecki took to Twitter to tell his fans he and Ackles had already spoken about the issue.
“@JensenAckles and I had a great talk, as we do often, and things are good,” he wrote. “The show is early in the process with miles to go. We’ve traveled a lot of roads together, and sometimes those damn roads have bumps. Bumps don’t stop us. Once brothers, always brothers.”
In an interview last week, Padalecki told The New York Times what had happened between him and Ackles was just a misunderstanding and they had already hashed out their issues.
“I hadn’t heard of it, and then he and I chatted the next morning,” he explained. “He just kind of explained, ‘Man, it’s not picked up yet. It’s not even written yet. He knows and I know how much ‘Supernatural’ means to both of us,” he told the outlet.
Padalecki went on to say that Ackles did not intend to keep him in the dark with regards to the prequel series but was just trying to play his cards close to the vest.
“It was just something that he didn’t feel really even existed yet,” Padalecki told the publication. “But he has been like, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know what’s going on.’”
The “Supernatural” star clarified that his tweet wasn’t meant to spark a feud or send his fans to hate or attack Ackles.
“It was just one of those things that because it was online, and people were assuming I was part of it, I really wanted to just say, ‘Hey, I’m not keeping a secret from you guys. I just don’t know about this,’” he said.
“I should be old enough to know better than to put something out there and expect that people will understand,” he added, saying the issue made him want to avoid social media from then on.
