‘Supernatural’ Throwback Thursday: See Pilot Episode Photos Before Final Season Premiere

The road so far has been a long one for “Supernatural.” The CW drama actually started on the now-defunct WB, and it kicked off 14 years ago on Sept. 13, 2005. On the eve of the Winchesters’ final season premiere, let’s take a look back at what the boys looked like in photos from that first episode.

In the pilot, after showing how their mother died when they were kids, the episode brings viewers to 2005. Sam (Jared Padalecki) is a law student at Stanford celebrating his LSAT scores when Dean (Jensen Ackles) comes in to ask for help. “Dad’s on a hunting trip and he hasn’t been home in a few days,” Dean says.

Sam, who swore he was done with hunting, reluctantly leaves his girlfriend Jess (Adrianne Palicki) to go on a road trip with Dean. Their father was chasing a woman in white, a vengeful spirit. When Sam and Dean find her, she possesses the Impala to chase them off a bridge. Dean falls into the water, and he's fine--but, as the photos show, the situation was a little muddy.

Luckily, their dad (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) left a ton of research behind for the boys to find along with a clue about where he’s headed next.

Of course, the boys manage to get rid of the spirit. She was Constance Welch (Sarah Shahi), a woman who drowned her children and then jumped off a bridge. They get her back in her house where the spirits of her dead children drag her down through the floor.

Sam is ready to go back to his life and let Dean continue his search for their dad alone. When he lays down in his bed after leaving Dean, he sees Jessica pinned to the ceiling before she burst into flames—the same way his mother (Samantha Smith) died. Sam is ready to ditch college for the hunting life again.

A lot has happened since then. These boys have been to hell and back (literally), but their brotherhood (and Dean’s hairstyle) remains the same.
