In a similar incident in December 2020, a 17-year-old girl admitted to having her parents murdered at their home in Oklahoma so she could be with her boyfriend. Her 15-year-old boyfriend beat her mother to death with a baseball bat and slashed her throat. He also murdered her father the next day by beating him to death when he returned home, reported news outlet Examiner-Enterprise. The two asked for the help of an 18-year-old friend in both murders.

In a study conducted on teenage males committing murders in the U.S., it was found that teenagers of both sexes between the ages of 14 and 17 commit 6.1% of the nation's homicide. It also revealed that teenage boys, who constitute only 3.3% of the population, commit 5.6% of the homicides.
