‘Survivor: Africa’ Winner Ethan Zohn Says His Cancer Is Back
Ethan Zohn has revealed that cancer has returned in his chest after 20 months in remission.
It's localized in my lung area, the former Survivor: Africa winner and The Amazing Race contestant told People magazine. But it's good that it's not all over my body.
My life was going like how I envisioned it, he said. I think in the cancer world, the general perception is that there are winners and losers.
You either beat cancer and you win - or you don't and you die. But the reality of it is, I did everything in my power to beat cancer, and I did. But it came back. And that's okay, too.
I'm not a failure. There are millions of people out there living with cancer, and you can still have a fulfilled life. You can go to work, raise a family, charge forward. That's what I'm doing here, he said.
Zohn said his girlfriend of eight years, Jenna Morasca, who was the winner of Survivor: Amazon and competed alongside him in the current season of The Amazing Race, has been very supportive since they learned the bad news.
She's taking it like the rock star that she is, Zohn told People. We're both filled with fear and anger and anxiety and gratitude and frustration. But there's so much love there. It's this whole spectrum of emotions.
